Performance « Chaîne alimentaire » / Goldberg Variations — a collaboration with EIN / Corgémont 30.11.24 & Neuveville 01.12.24

Immersive Experience of Painting and Classical Music

Set within the majestic surroundings of two churches, the audience is invited to immerse itself in a unique performance where painting, dance, and music intertwine. Arno interprets Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations, performed by the Ensemble Instrumental de La Neuveville, composed exclusively of string instruments.

This diptych performance is structured around the food chain as a lens through which to question our relationship with the world and the forms of coexistence that shape it.

The narrative begins with an awareness of the self, the body, the breath, presence and unfolds within our contemporary urban context, an ecosystem shaped by human activity yet inhabited by a multitude of often-overlooked forms of life.

The performance then explores our relationship with vegetation, immerses us in the intricate world of insects, moves through birds and carnivores, and ultimately turns its focus toward human beings and the relationships they maintain with one another. Each stage reveals interdependence, tension, and the fragile balance between domination, adaptation, and coexistence.

Through painting, dance, and music, this immersive experience invites the audience to reconsider their place within the living world, to feel rather than judge and to question the implicit hierarchies that shape our perception of life and its ecosystems.
